2027 grants program eligibility and requirements
Any initiatives or projects related to natural resources conservation, support for or protection of bird species, ecosystem restoration, and/or conservation education are eligible for consideration.
Grants should support Louisville Audubon’s mission: “to conserve and restore natural ecosystems—focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats—for the benefit of humanity and the Earth’s biological diversity.”
Grant applicants registered with the IRS as a 501(c)3 organization or affiliated with one are strongly preferred. If this does not describe your organization, your application should explain how your organization and/or the proposed project serve the general public.
Applications from nonprofits based in Kentucky or a county in Southern Indiana (as delineated by this map from Stats Indiana, Indiana’s public data utility) are strongly preferred.
Grants will not be given to fund endowments, administrative costs, staff salaries and/or benefits, or general operations.
Applicants may ask for any amount of funding, but grant awards do not typically exceed $2,000-$2,500 per awardee.
If your application receives funding, LAS requires a follow-up report and separate documentation (e.g., photographs in PNG or JPG format), submitted via email to contact@louisvilleaudubon.org, by 11:59 p.m. (UTC-05:00) on Jan. 1, 2028.
