Volunteering with Louisville Audubon – Lights Out Louisville

You can make a difference.

Volunteering with Louisville Audubon offers you the opportunity to:

Gain a deeper understanding of conservation issues that impact birds and other wildlife

Build new skills and knowledge while honing your existing skillset

Interact with and meet many different people from all walks of life

Make a difference in our community by helping us create a more sustainable future

Serve in your role for at least one consecutive year
Maintain active membership in the Louisville Audubon Society (or be willing to join if not currently a member)
Understand and stay up to date on our mission and programs, such as Lights Out Louisville
Have working knowledge of bird identification (aural and visual; field marks; habitats; behaviors; etc.)—you don’t need to be an expert, just willing to learn!
Help support and/or lead community-engagement activities—such as leading a bird walk, teaching local groups about birds and birding, or staffing a booth at an event—at least once a quarter/four times a year (or more, if you want!) We’ll work with you to ensure the events you support fit your schedule and areas of interest—and we’re happy to provide any training you might need!
