Pledge to go Lights Out

You can help save migrating birds.

If you live in KY or IN, or operate an organization based in one of those states, you can help make migration safer for birds.

Simply do what you can to reduce artificial light at night during spring and fall migration. (We have some tips in the links below.)

Join the other residents and organizations participating in this local conservation program: Sign one of the pledge forms below (or both, if applicable to you). There’s no cost to enroll, and it takes less than 1 minute.

With your participation, our region can make a difference by saving birds from deadly building collisions and window strikes.

Residential pledge

As a resident of KY or IN, you can make migration safer for birds. By choosing to take one or more of the simple actions we recommend, you’ll help prevent some of the ~1 billion fatalities that occur every year when birds collide with artificially lit buildings and man-made structures.

Anyone—whether homeowner or renter—is eligible to join our local conservation program, at no cost, in under a minute.

Commercial pledge

As a decision-maker for an organization, you can make migration safer for birds. By choosing to take one or more of the simple actions we recommend, you’ll help prevent some of the ~1 billion fatalities that occur every year when birds collide with artificially lit buildings and man-made structures.

Any KY- or IN-based business or commercial building owner, operator, or tenant can enroll in our local conservation program—at no cost, in under a minute.
